Top 10 Hacker Movies

Let's jump into the actual content, Top 10 Hollywood Hacker Movies ( at least in my opinion! )

1) Black Hat (2015) 

Black hat is the top one in this list because the movie is quiet close to the real hacking scenarios. It is definitely a good movie with a great entertainment value. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tang Wei, Viola Davis, Holt McCallany, and Wang Leehom.

2) Hackers (1995)

The thrilling movie for the one who want to be a hacker, don't expect any real hacking techniques from this movie. The movie shows unrealistic scenes and events, but, It's fun to watch. Starring Angelena jolie and Jonny Lee Miller.

3) Swordfish (2001)

The movie swordfish centers on Stanley Jobson ( Hugh Jackman ), an ex-con and computer hacker who is targeted for recruitment into a bank robbery conspiracy because of his formidable hacking skills. Its fun and worth watching for entertainment.

4) The Matrix (1999) :

This movie centers on a computer programmer Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves) who maintains a double life as "Neo" the hacker. Interesting story that questions the reality we live in.

5) TrackDown (2000) 

The movie Track Down also known as Take Down is based on the real story of a famous hacker Kevin Mitnick. It was not a commercially successful film, but its good for killing time!

In Kevin Mitnick's The Art of Deception, Mitnick states that book Takedown and the movie are "extremely inaccurate" and based on media hype.

6) WarGames (1983) 

This film follows David Lightman (Matthew Broderick), a young hacker who unwittingly accesses WOPR (War Operation Plan Response), a United States military supercomputer programmed to predict possible outcomes of nuclear war. WarGames is a must see hacker film.

7) AntiTrust (2001) 

Antitrust portrays young idealistic programmers and a large corporation (NURV) that offers significant money, a low-key working environment, and creative opportunities for those talented programmers willing to work for them.

8) Die Hard 4: Live Free or Die Hard (2007)

Die Hard 4 is a complete package of action and hacking.  If you didn't see this film yet, you are missing some great action and hacking scenes.

9) Disclosure (1994)

Disclosure movie is an excellent film that portraits computer hacking. A computer specialist is sued for sexual harassment by a former lover turned boss who initiated the act forcefully, which threatens both his career and his personal life.

10)Revolution OS (2001)

This is not an action movie, but a nice documentary that tells the story about the Linux operating system, and how it forwarded the philosophy of "open source" and free intellectual property. Its definitely interesting for people who want to learn more about why computer culture is the way it is.
