'ISIS Attack In Sydney' Scam Email Spreads

Cyber criminals sending emails falsely purport to be from a News website news.com.au, carrying the subject line 'ISIS attacks in Sydney ?' to access targeted computers. If you have received an email with the above subject line, don't open it, delete the email as soon as possible.

The fake email contains a malicious attachment that could allow hackers to access targeted computers.

Bruce Matthews from Australian Communications and Media Authority said, "ACMA has received a number of emails reported by members of the public that purport to contain information about ISIS attacks in Sydney or in Australia in 2015."

"These emails contain an attachment that, if opened, could potentially download malicious software onto your computing device, enabling that device to be controlled remotely by cyber-criminals," he added.
