Hackers Says They Can Hack(Copy) Your Fingerprints

Security researcher and biometrics expert Jan Krissler, known as Starbug explained how he recreated German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen's fingerprints using only a "standard photo camera" and publicly available software called VeriFinger in the 31st annual congress of Chaos Computer Club (CCC).

How  ?

He collected high resolution images of Von der Leyen's thumb during a press conference and other photos from different angles, Krissler was able to reconstruct an accurate thumbprint using VeriFinger.

Venturebeat pointed out, "If anyone can really use this method as easily as described, it could be a potentially big blow to the use of fingerprints for security purposes. Nonetheless, this is no reason to stop using them: It’s important to keep the findings in perspective."

Starbug said, “politicians will presumably wear gloves when talking in public.”
